Appearance for a Caution

Date ordered: June 2, 2022

Date completed: August 11, 2022

On August 11, 2022, the Registrant appeared before a panel of the Inquiries, Complaints and Reports Committee (the Panel) to be cautioned with respect to their failure to wear a mask in their clinic during the COVID-19 pandemic in contravention of Public Health standards.

The Panel expressed its concern with the Registrant not wearing a mask in their professional capacity during a mask mandate, which undermined orders issued by the Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH).

The Panel reminded the Registrant that the College has made numerous efforts to educate all registrants regarding the evolving situation of the COVID-19 pandemic and has made it very clear that it is the registrant’s responsibility to keep abreast of all College communications and government updates issued by the CMOH.

The Panel impressed upon the Registrant that it is the College’s expectation that all registrants comply with the requirements set out by the CMOH and the College. As a regulated health professional, not knowing or not comprehending the legislation and regulations of their governing bodies is not justification for not complying.
